Reliquary of St. Mary Magdalene

Bohemia (?), second half of 18th century

Watercolour on paper; quilled paper frame with gilding. The frame is composed of tiny spirals, palms, rosettes, stars, and racemes made of quilled pink paper strips which have been gilt along the edges. “IHS” inscribed in upper section. Scrolls with relics below the stars on the left and right sides. Newly housed in a glass-fronted cardboard case.
